I realized that I was a conservative after reading Barry Goldwater’s “Conscience of a Conservative” in high school, and my first presidential vote was for Barry. Even though I have been sufficiently disgusted with the Republican candidates to vote Libertarian over the last 12 years or so, I don’t think that’s the answer. More recently, I have taken to sending blistering emails to my congressman and senators (all Republicans) to try to get them to do the right thing – usually to no avail. We really need to clean house! I’ve never actually been directly involved in electoral politics, but if we can identify PRINCIPLED candidates to run, I’m ready!
